Birds

LUMS is the home of over 50 species of birds. Most of these birds are resident of this place, however around 15 different species have been identified as migratory birds – LUMS is the destination of over 20,000 migratory birds which spend time from few weeks to few months in different parts of the year. One of the highlights of the migratory birds is the big population of Starlings (Tiliyars) that breed in Siberia and Turkmanestan and stay at LUMS for six to eight weeks during late summer.  Eurasian Hoopoe (Upapa epops), brown eagle, black drongo and Black Rumped Flameback Woodpecker are the other examples of migratory birds at LUMS.
